Driving License in State of Arkansas

You need to follow some steps for getting the driving license in State of Arkansas:

Applying for New Driving License in State of Arkansas: You need to clear some basic tests to acquire driving license at the Arkansas Office of Motor Vehicles (MV). There are various types of driving licenses in the Arkansas State:

  • Drivers aged 14 or above can have Instruction Permit. You need to follow the restrictions like having a licensed driver of age more than 21 years accompanying you while driving. Also, every passenger should have seat belts on at all times while you drive. You need to pass written and vision test to acquire an Instruction Permit. You must have parent’s signature on the application form and proof from school or graduation proof.
  • Learner’s Permit is issued to the candidates in the age group 14-16 years. You must clear written, vision and driving test to acquire learner’s license. You need to provide two identification proofs, parent’s signature on application and other school or graduation documents.
  • An Intermediate license is issued to candidates aged between 16 and 18 years. You must clear written, vision and driving test to acquire learner’s license. You need to provide two identification proofs, parent’s signature on application and other school or graduation documents.
  • Class D license is issued to candidates aged above 18 years. You should have passed the Intermediate license level to be eligible for this license. You need to provide two ID proofs along with application for Class D driving license.

Renewing Driving License in State of Arkansas: You must renew your driving license every four years before your birthday. You need to pass the vision test for the same. You can visit the Department of Finance and Administration’s Office of Driver Services (ODS) and fill the application along with the $20 fee. You can even renew your driving license through mail. You can call the ODS at (501) 682-7059 and ask for an application form. Complete the form and mail it to ODS along with $20 fee. You will receive your renewed driving license through mail.

Replacing a Lost Driving License in State of Arkansas: You need to apply for duplicate driving license if you misplace your license. You need to provide required documents with the $10 fee. If you are out of state, then you can even request on phone or by mail to ODS. You need to mail required documents to ODS and duplicate license will be mailed back to you.

Changing Name on Driving License in State of Arkansas: You need to provide the name change proof along with the $10 fee and current license for duplicate license with new name.

Changing Address on Driving License in State of Arkansas: You can change your address on driving license either by mail or email by sending driver’s license number, full name, new address and old address to ODS. You can even visit there in person to complete the procedure.
