Driving License in State of Illinois

You need to follow some instructions to acquire the Driving License in State of Illinois:

Applying for New Driving License in State of Illinois: You need to be at least 15 years old to obtain the instructional or learner’s permit in Illinois. You should provide proof of parental permission and clearing of vision test as well as written test along with the fee of $20. You need to follow some instructions while driving as you possess instructional or learner’s permit. If you are over 18 years or above, then you are eligible for driver’s license. For the next renewal you need to present at the local Secretary of State’s driver services office. Under this program you are eligible for renewing your driving license by telephone or by mail. You receive the renewal authorization number along with letter, which you need to provide in the online renewal form. Complete the form and pay the renewal fee online. You will receive the renewal sticker in about two weeks, which you need to place on the back side of your driving license. If you are not qualified for this program, then you need to visit the local Secretary of State’s driver services office in person to renew your driving license. You are charged $10 as renewal fee.

Replacing a Lost Driving License in State of Illinois: If you need a duplicate driving license, then you need to visit Secretary of State’s driver services office. You need to provide valid identification proofs and $5 fee along with the application. In case your driving license has been stolen then you need to file a police report. If your age is above 60 years, then you can get replacement free on submitting copy of police report.

If you lose your license while out of state then you should call Special License and Re-Examination Unit at (217) 782-6901. If your stay is less than 90 days, then you can request for 90 days temporary license. But if its more than 90 days, then you can request for necessary forms to be sent to you on temporary out of state address. You can complete the form and send it back along with $5 replacement fee. You can even obtain the duplicate license by using the online form to contact the Secretary of State’s office.

Changing Name on Driving License in State of Illinois: You need to inform the Secretary of State’s driver services office about your name change within 10 days. You need to provide legal proof for name change and your current driving license along with $5 fee.

Changing Address on Driving License in State of Illinois: You can inform Secretary of State’s office about your address change by using online Notice of Address Change form. If you want the corrected driver license to be issued, then you need to visit local driver services office in person. You need to pay fee of $5 for driving license with new address.
