Driving License in State of Ohio

You need to follow some steps to acquire Driving License in State of Ohio:

Applying for New Driving License in State of Ohio: If you are aged between 15, ½ and 18 years old, then you need two identity proofs and Social Security number. You will have to bring one of your parents along with you while you apply for temporary permit packet. Clearing of eye test and written test is a must for this process. Before you appear for a driving test, you should present a proof of completion of driving education course. You also need to provide an Affidavit stating that you have successfully completed the 50 hours of driving practice including 10 night hours. You driving license will expire on your 21st birthday.

If you are above 18 years, then you don’t need to complete any driver education course. You need to provide two identity proofs and Social Security number. If everything is verified, then you are given a temporary permit packet. Pay $22 for packet. You must clear written, vision and driving test at exam station. Once you pass the tests, the certificate will be given to you. You can visit the driver license agency in next 10 days to acquire your driving license. The fees will vary as per the type of license.

If you are new resident at Ohio and possess out of state license, then you can get the Ohio State driving license by providing required documents. You must clear vision and written test. You can skip driving test.

Renewing Driving License in State of Ohio: You need to renew your driving license every four years on your birthday. However, if you are younger than 21 years old, then your driving license expires on your 21st birthday. You need to renew your driving license by visiting license agency in person. Fee charged is around $24.

Replacing a Lost Driving License in State of Ohio: You need to visit a deputy registrar’s office in person to acquire your duplicate driving license, if you have misplaced or damaged it. You need to provide one primary and one secondary identification proof. You have to pay around $19.50 as replacement fees. If you lose your license while traveling out of state, then you need to call the Driver’s License Office at (614) 752-7600 and request for duplicate license.

Changing Name on Driving License in State of Ohio: You must visit Deputy Registrar’s Office in person to get your name changed on your driving license. You should also provide current driving license, Social Security card and legal proof of name change. Fee charged for this process can be about $19.50.

Changing Address on Driving License in State of Ohio: You can change your address on the state’s record online by filling up the change your information online form. You can even visit the Deputy Registrar’s Office to carry out the procedure. On the other hand, you can send mail to Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles including your full name, birth date, driving license number, old address and new address. You can even use the Change of Address form. No fee is charged.
